• Place clean cardboard under suspected leak area overnight to catch drips.
• Check fluid’s color, viscosity, and smell to identify its type.
• Inspect engine and transmission undersides with a flashlight for wet gaskets or plugs.
• Trace fluid trails upward to locate the highest and likely source point.
• Check wheel wells and brake backing plates for oily spots indicating brake fluid.
• Look for coolant residue/crust near radiator hoses, clamps, and water pump.
• Inspect power steering hoses and reservoir for dampness or low fluid.
• Check oil filter and pan areas for fresh oil and loose hardware.
• Examine transmission pan and lines for pink or red fluid leaks.
• Look under battery tray for clear fluid and corrosion, signs of acid leaks.
